1. What Data We Collect

mazado collects the following personal data to provide our marketplace services:

• Email address: Used for account creation and authentication

• Name: Displayed on your user profile

• Phone number (optional): For WhatsApp contact with buyers. Only collected with your explicit consent via checkbox when creating a listing.

• User photos: Listing images and profile avatars

• Approximate location: Area-level location from dropdown list (e.g., "Dubai Marina"). We do NOT collect GPS coordinates.

• In-app messages: Text messages between buyers and sellers

• Device push token: For push notifications

2. Why We Collect It

We collect personal data for the following purposes:

• Account management and authentication

• Marketplace functionality (listing creation, browsing, searching)

• Buyer-seller communication (in-app chat and WhatsApp)

• Location-based browsing (filter listings by area)

• Push notifications for listing updates and badges

• CO₂ tracking and sustainability impact calculations

3. How Data Is Stored

All data is encrypted at rest and in transit via Supabase (PostgreSQL + S3-compatible storage). Data is hosted in secure data centers with industry-standard security practices.

4. Data Retention

• Account data is retained until you request deletion via Settings → Account → Delete Account.

• Listing data is retained for 90 days after a listing is marked sold or removed.

5. Third-Party Sharing

We do NOT sell your data. Your data is processed by:

• Supabase: Backend services (database, authentication, storage)

• Expo: Push notification delivery

We do not use advertising SDKs or share data with advertisers.

6. Your Rights Under UAE PDPL

Under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45/2021 (Personal Data Protection Law), you have the following rights:

• Right to access: View all personal data we hold about you

• Right to rectification: Correct inaccurate data via your profile avatar (top-right) → Settings → Edit Profile

• Right to deletion: Delete your account and all associated data via Settings → Account → Delete Account

• Right to data portability: Export your data (contact support)

• Right to withdraw consent: Disable notifications, delete your account, or remove phone number from listings at any time

7. How to Delete Your Data

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time via:

Tap your profile avatar (top-right) → Settings → Delete Account

This action is irreversible and will remove all your listings, messages, and profile information.

8. Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Users under 18 require parental consent per UAE Child Digital Safety Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 26/2025).

If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data, please contact us immediately.
